We are in the heart of Chicago, across the street from historic Grant Park, and housed in some of the most iconic buildings in the South Loop. Columbia College Chicago, a private urban institution of over 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students, is currently searching for a PROGRAM ASSISTANT.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Director of the Comedy Studies Program and Coordinator of Comedy Writing & Performance, the Program Assistant works closely with administrative staff in departments across the college such as Undergraduate Admissions, Records, Office of Transfer Evaluation, Student Financial Services, and Creative and Print Services in support of the Comedy Studies program. This position supports the students and faculty at the Second City location and liaises with various divisions at both Columbia and The Second City in support of the program and recruitment of new students.

This is a part-time position working up to 20 hours per week and capped at 950 hours per calendar year. Flex work options are available.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Answer student inquiries regarding programs via e-mail and phone.
  • Coordinate and support promotional mailings and direct recruitment of students from outside of Columbia College Chicago for Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions.
  • Contact eligible Comedy Writing and Performance majors regarding application dates and processes.
  • Assist in the evaluation and assessment of the Comedy Studies program per student feedback and faculty meetings.
  • Serve as the primary point person for students accepted in the Comedy Studies program, including sending initial acceptance information and facilitating registration.
  • Organize and support Comedy Studies all-student events including Orientation and final showcases.
  • Support students and faculty at the Second City location and liaise with various divisions for program support.
  • Maintain program alumni records and create website updates on alumni activities.
  • Update Comedy Studies website and maintain social media accounts.
  • Maintain and update databases for promotional mailings and invitations.
  • Reserve space at Columbia College and Second City for Comedy Studies events.
  • Organize and support student special events including show tickets, guest speakers, and master classes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in the Arts or Media related field or commensurate work experience.
  • Familiarity with theater production and presentation.
  • Ability to use social media and web based tools.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Collaborative and partnership-building skills.

  • This position is overtime eligible.
  • Salary Budget: $22.60/Hourly
