About the job:
Work collaboratively with Buyer to support established and implemented strategies to efficiently manage the merchandising programs for their specific categories, which contribute to, and support the merchandising strategies of the company resulting in the attainment of its financial goals and objectives. The Associate Buyer will assume responsibility for a classification, or classifications as assigned by the Buyer under their supervision. The Associate Buyer will analyze and make recommendations on how to drive the business, take initiative to understand variance to plan and prior year, build partnerships that allow for open and timely communication and have confidence to speak in open forums and provide value added comments. Key responsibilities include supporting purchase decisions, business analysis, competitive/trend analysis, receipt management, design and product development, brand management and interfacing with Pacsun leadership. Associate Buyer will occasionally need to participate in sample management and PO maintenance. Associate Buyer will work closely with cross-functional partners in design, production, visual merchandising, planning/ allocation for strong execution of categories across all platforms to drive to results of the categories. The Associate Buyer will need to exhibit exceptional communication and organizational skills as they will be the liaison between cross-functional teams which requires professionalism and the highest level of detail.
A day in the life, what you’ll be doing:
· Assist Buyer in selecting product assortments, analyzing customer preferences, and reviewing sales data.
· Use knowledge from data analysis to offer input in building the product assortments for classification(s), under the guidance of the Buyer.
· Support the Buyer in maintaining relationships with vendors and cross-functional teams, helping to manage product deliveries, and providing order information.
· Track sales performance of products, analyzing trends and identifying risks and opportunities. Use data to recommend changes to the inventory or product selection.
· Collaboratively partner with the Buyer to manage financial aspects of role, including cost negotiations and maintaining margin goals.
· Support Buyer by placing orders, managing inventory levels, and ensuring that the supply chain operates smoothly. Own receipt management process and monthly financial review preparation.
· Participate in the Private Label and Product Development process as appropriate. Purchase from PacSun in house Design/Product Development.
· Prepare for meetings & projects with Buyer, Design, Planners, and Allocators · Knowledgeable in women’s brands as well as current trends in RTW
· Competitive and trend analysis and recaps to inform current and future business decisions · Able to guide Assistant Buyer or Merchandise Coordinator
·Performs other related duties as assigned by leadership
What it takes to Join:
· Bachelor’s Degree desired with 1-2 years retail buying experience in either specialty store or department store. Internal candidates must have at least 1-2 years of Assistant level Buying experience.
· Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
· Must have strong communication skills
· Ability to work as a team member
· Must be task driven and proactive when it comes to executing tasks
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
· Thorough knowledge of retail Math such as gross margin, open to buy calculations, initial markup calculations, turnover etc.

· Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.
· Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.
· Hotel, Airplane, and Car Travel may be required.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. As a National Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume. This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
