Position Title: Assistant Director, Editorial Services (Program)

Position Status: Full-time
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Occasional duties fall outside of normal work hours. The position often requires some presence and commitment before 8 a.m., after 5 p.m., and on weekends, both on and off campus.
- Some local, regional, and national travel required for meetings, events, and conferences.
Salary: Salary is commensurate based on qualifications and relevant experience up to $78,716.

Job Summary: The Assistant Director provides writing, editing, proofreading, and project management of communications and marketing copy for The University of Texas at Arlington, involving the creation and production of over 500 projects annually.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops communications and marketing strategies and editorial content for various communications.
- Coordinates with writers, marketers, and designers to execute high-quality print and electronic communications.
- Develops, writes, and edits compelling content for key audiences, supporting the University’s mission.
- Manages high-profile publications like UTArlington Magazine and the president’s annual report.
- Conducts interviews, research, and fact-checking to ensure content quality.
- Stays informed of University priorities to exercise excellent news judgment.
- Serves as backup to the Director of Editorial Services.
- Supervises freelance writers and tracks editorial deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Three years of experience in print and electronic communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in publications, communications, or writing-heavy fields.
- Project management experience in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Creativity and a collaborative work style.
- Professional organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of AP Style and media reproduction techniques.
- Proficiency in office technology and new media practices.
Other Requirements
- This position is essential for emergency communications response and crisis management.
