Position Tasks
- Working at the circulation desk to assist patrons
- Using online library systems, checking materials in and out for patrons
- Placing items on hold for patron pickup
- Shelving library materials
- Answering questions about hours, services, and locations of materials
- General upkeep of the library, including shelving, cleaning items and the space, adding paper to the printers and copy machine, etc.
- Opening and closing the library
- Assisting with organizational projects in the library, including inventory, shifting, displays, etc.
Educational Benefits
- This position will allow students the opportunity to improve their research and customer service skills, as well as knowledge of Visual and Performing Art histories, artists, and works.
- Students will gain an understanding of systems of library classification and experience in library circulation functions.
Position Requirements & Qualifications
Position Requirements
- Work Study eligible (Check your Financial Aid award or contact the Office of Financial Aid to determine eligibility)
- Able to work at least two consecutive semesters
- Able to work a minimum of 7 hours per week
Minimum Qualifications
- Computer competency
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
- Strong time management and scheduling skills
- Ability to perform routine and repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous library experience or relevant customer service experience
