Job Summary
The Senior Vice President of Government Affairs is a role on the West Division Senior Leadership Team, working closely with and supporting the Division President and all Division Senior Leadership Team members on the company’s advocacy and messaging strategy on behalf of Comcast’s business positions. This includes partnerships with key stakeholders, including local, state legislative, state regulatory, administration officials, community partners and third-party groups. The SVP of Government Affairs is responsible for directing government and regulatory affairs for the division including community impact. The SVP of Government Affairs works as a strategist, business partner and divisional shared service provider to the five regions within the West Division. The position manages government affairs and community impact aligning key business goals and supporting the company’s many longstanding and evolving digital equity and inclusivity initiatives. Further, it organizes a thematic and integrated outreach strategy to government officials and community partners as well as a variety of third-party stakeholders in the industry to support growth and retention for the business.

Salary
Primary Location Pay Range: $299,411.08 - $508,998.84

Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Sets the tone of our governmental and community strategy that grows and benefits the financial execution of the West Division P&L performance, including commercial services opportunities and residential growth expansion.
- Establishes issue advocacy and positioning strategies for effective outreach and partnership with internal and external stakeholders to drive business priorities.
- Collaborates to ensure that all investments and activities within or adjacent to government relations and community impact are aligned and targeted to maximize resources and to ensure the company “speaks with one voice” on its key issues and initiatives.
- Leads the internal education of our employees regarding our company’s political action and engagement in governmental processes.
- Oversees government affairs for regulatory, state and local policy, political, and third-party engagement in West Division, in partnership with HQ and Federal government affairs teams, to develop and execute integrated advocacy messaging to be used thematically and directing all legislative and regulatory activity to maintain continuity of messaging across stakeholder groups.
- Allies with industry trade associations and non-profit organizations to advance common objectives.
- Facilitates the execution of the West Division community impact and digital equity strategy, in coordination with the HQ Impact and Inclusion team, to support the business and the communities we serve. This includes the execution of flagship programs including Internet Essentials, RISE, Lift Zones and work with the Comcast foundation.
- Ensures all activities are fully compliant with all applicable legal standards and internal ethics requirements.
- Strong knowledge of business and ability to build and develop strong partnerships with each of the internal stakeholders at the region, division, and HQ levels by understanding their organizations and how each partnership can be mutually supportive.
- Deep experience in local and state political environments and community advocacy, preferably with established relationships with political and community leaders in the key Comcast markets.
- Demonstrated experience building and leading a high-performing government affairs and community impact team responsible for government relations, external partnerships and community impact.
- Understanding of the evolving technology landscape (web, mobile, social) and ability to articulate a vision as to what to expect on the horizon and impact on function.
- Ability to apply performance management rigor, to hire, mentor, coach and develop direct reports and other high-potential managers to be the best that they can be, while ensuring they are in the right roles.
- Demonstrated history of success in public policy, alliance advocacy and coalitions at local, state legislative, state regulatory, industry associations and among federal officials.
- Strong interpersonal and written communications skills.
- Ability to represent Comcast with public policy stakeholders and thought leaders at all levels of the government and community.
- Preferred experience in and around the cable/telecommunications and technology sectors.
- Experience leveraging grassroots campaigns and communications to support business objectives, including campaigns in the community.
- Full understanding of compliance requirements and legislative and regulatory process and prepared to certify compliance on regular basis.
- Demonstrated record of performance in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
