Campout Leader

Summary:
Are you passionate about wildlife education and conservation? Do you enjoy working with people of all ages? We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join us as Campout Leaders for our Sleeping Bag Safari Overnight Education program. As a Campout Leader, you will have the opportunity to facilitate overnight educational programming that takes place year-round.

Responsibilities:

• Organize materials for the evening's events.
• Lead programming and convey information to the public.
• Familiarize yourself with your assigned group each evening.
• Facilitate an educational program during the entire campout.
• Stay overnight and assist with basic facility maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with your group, supervisors, and overnight security.
• Assist with registration and scheduling for campout programs.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Available for 3 weekend nights per month.
• High School Graduate or GED required. Background in biology, environmental science, wildlife education, or related fields recommended.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in group settings.
• Flexible and adaptable to different circumstances.
• Must pass a drug screen and background check.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

• Ability to walk long distances across the zoo.
• Work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• Comfortable with inclement weather conditions.
• Physical requirements include standing, sitting, kneeling, bending, twisting, reaching above the head, and climbing.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds using safe lifting methods.
