CUSTOMER QUALITY ENGINEER

As a member of the Quality team, the Customer Quality Engineer will be responsible for leading the customer response system, directs customer interface for all quality customer plant performance concerns, and ensures that all concerns are properly directed.

CUSTOMER QUALITY ENGINEER
HAMMOND, IN
As a member of the Quality team, the Customer Quality Engineer will be responsible for leading the customer response system, directs customer interface for all quality customer plant performance concerns, and ensures that all concerns are properly directed.
The Role
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
- Acts as the primary interface between customer and the Manufacturing Plant, proactively engaging at the customer site as required or as necessary
- Function internally as expert on customer specific requirements relative to product, process, & expectations for quality related items
- Communicate regularly with customer quality organization to keep the customer view of quality performance up-to-date
- Coordinate and control closure of all customer related corrective and preventative quality issues in close cooperation with production plant quality, supplier quality, and engineering organizations
- Assist/support the validation and verification of corrective actions in production process
- Coordinate necessary sorting activities on-site (Customer plants) in cooperation with the plant manufacturing quality team
- Attend all customer initiated regular and sporadic quality meetings representing the organization and position
- Oversees APQP & SQE responsibilities
- Manage data entry and updates of the customer issue response system and the Lear internal customer data entry system (LQTS)
- Coordinates and actively participates in visits by the customer for quality related activities or audits
- When observations are identified by the customer, responsible for the root cause analysis, the actions to correct and the verification actions are in place and effective.
- Supervises the manufacturing plant liaisons on site at the customer location ensuring that issues are addressed and responded to.
- In alignment with the Quality Manager, responsible for stopping any process or product delivery in case of a non-conformance of customer expectations, safety or environmental risks.
- Minimum of 4 years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical field from an accredited institution
- Expert in problem solving and analytical skills using 8D methodology
- Competent in quality tools and process/production control methods such as: APQP, Control Plans, FMEA, GD&T, MSA, PPAP, SPC
- Ability to read and interpret drawings to ensure the understanding of the agreed quality parameters and product specific requirements
- Proficient in quality and/or internal audit processes, including process/production control methods (i.e. APQP, PPAP, incoming inspection, etc.)
- Experience in a JIT manufacturing environment
