Grand View University
The Department of English at Grand View University is seeking part-time instructors to teach a range of writing and literature courses. The majority of the courses are traditional, day classes, but there are occasional opportunities to teach evening or online courses as well. Courses include:
Courses Offered
- ENGL 100: English Literacies: This course focuses on the development of functional literacy skills- reading and writing- and helps students advance both for the needs of university work.
- ENGL 101: First Year Composition: This course emphasizes the process model of writing, argument structure, and research.
- ENGL 111: Interpretation of Literature: This course focuses on helping students enjoy, analyze, and communicate their interpretations of a range of literary genres.
- ENGL 212: Good & Evil: This course is thematic and focuses on core ethical and philosophical questions about the nature of good and evil.
- ENGL 309: Writing for Business: This advanced writing course focuses on the rhetoric of business reports through analysis of audience, context, and purpose.
The Department prides itself on opportunities for instructors to develop their teaching through course design. We also offer mentoring and professional development opportunities for all instructors.
Candidates should have teaching experience and hold a master’s degree in English or a related field (PhD preferred). The English Department is dedicated to linguistic justice and student success. The ideal candidate will abide by and uphold these core values in their teaching and scholarship.
This is a continuous job posting to establish a qualified pool of part-time instructors on an as-needed basis semester-to-semester.
