Responsibilities
This position is open to experienced nurses and new grad nurses.
Location: Generose 2E (GE2E), Acute Care Psychiatry (General Care)
Patient Care Type: This is a closed adult unit accommodating brief crisis admissions and longer stays for patients with major depressive disorders, psychotic processes, affective disorders, anxiety disorders, and comorbid substance abuse.

Nursing Team Roles: Treatment modes include group therapy, individual supportive therapy, behavior modification, pharmacology, electroconvulsive therapy, and recreational therapy. The care delivery system features an interdisciplinary team approach with a primary nursing model.
For new grad nurses: New graduates with less than 12 months of practice experience hired into a scheduled FTE position on the Rochester campus are automatically enrolled in the Nurse Residency Program. All nurses new to Mayo Clinic receive an extensive orientation program.
The RN is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care, functioning within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, requiring state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
Qualifications
Student or graduate of a nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA. If graduated from an unaccredited program, at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
Entry-level associate degree registered nurses must provide documented evidence of baccalaureate degree completion from an accredited program within five years of the RN start date.
Additional Qualifications:
One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting preferred. Excellent communication skills, team environment experience, computer skills, and adaptability to unpredictable situations are required.
License or Certification:
Must obtain prior to start date:
- Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support for healthcare providers (BCLS) – certificate required.
Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
Compensation Detail
The pay range is $39.84 - $62.84. Mayo Clinic has an innovative nursing compensation model that rewards experience, education, and dedication, empowering nurses to grow professionally and maximize earning potential.
Schedule
Full Time with variable schedule including days/evenings/nights and 8 or 12-hour shifts discussed during the interview.
Weekend Schedule
Variable shifts including every, every other, or every third weekend.
