Fitness Floor and Engagement Instructor

The South Meridian Branch of the Treasure Valley YMCA is unlike any other in the country. Our 60,000-square-foot facility is part of a unique collaboration that combines family recreation, education, sports, literacy, and wellness care on a single campus called “The Hill.” Hand in hand with our partners—St. Luke’s Health System, the West Ada School District, and the City of Meridian—the South Meridian Family Y will help us build A BETTER US.
The Fitness Floor and Engagement Instructor promotes individual and community health and wellbeing through direct engagement by assisting members with proper equipment usage, educating members on other fitness opportunities, and answering member questions about the YMCA.
Schedule:
This is a part-time position averaging 5 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are Evenings, 4:00pm - 7:00pm and Weekends, 10:00am-2:00pm. Pay is $14.15 - 17.69/hourly.
Responsibilities:
- Actively engage members to provide education, demonstration and knowledge necessary to use all modalities of exercise equipment helping them meet the two Cause Measures for adults.
- Proactively provide members with information about how to maximize the value of their membership, resulting in enrollment in Y programs (personal training, challenges, fun runs, etc.) that help them achieve the two Case Measures for adults.
- Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants on the wellness floor, responding to emergencies and safety related issues.
- Develop meaningful relationships with members to create a sense of belonging and connection to others.
- Report any equipment not functioning.
Qualifications:
- Experience in related field.
- Preferred experience to include current Personal Training Certification from one of the following agencies is required: ACE, NASM, ACSM, NETA, NSCA, or NFPT and/or, The Y’s Foundations of Strength & Conditioning or equivalent and/or B.S. in Exercise Science
- Must be able to engage others in conversation and make all people feel welcome.
- Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
- Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
