Position Overview

As a Superintendent for Cherne Contracting, you will supervise all aspects of advanced technologies projects and industrial EPC construction projects. In this role, your responsibilities include:

  • Perform daily inspections of work for safety, quality, and productivity. Assure proper planning and communication is happening for all operations that you oversee. Identify and solve problems that arise. Establish budgetary guidelines for the job and ensure that cost control measures are being followed. Provide job safety training and awareness for all personnel. Establish quality standards of all jobs and ensure that all quality assurance and company standards are being met. Develop and manage job schedules, coordinate work with other crafts, departments, contractors, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the output from engineering, constructability, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams from detail design through commissioning and start-up.
  • Establish project procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans; oversee project controls, schedules, and budgets.
  • Direct project teams, ensuring project scope, schedule, and budget are clearly defined and understood.
  • Serve as project representative in meetings, job walks, and correspondence with clients and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate training and compliance measures; secure approvals for changes in project scope, budget, and/or schedule.
  • Maintain communication with clients, adjusting as necessary to meet client needs within contractual obligations.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience in construction, with at least 5+ years in a supervisory role.
  • Direct project oversight on EPC projects self-performed by your employer at the time.
  • Competent in project control and administration software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, and engineering documents.
  • Ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance. Willingness to relocate or travel.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, specifications, and understand the NEC.
