As a Traffic Signal Systems Practice Area Leader you will be a member of the DKS leadership team and will work closely with both local and cross-office teams to win and deliver work in our Traffic Signal Systems practice, with a portfolio including traffic signal operations, integrated corridor management, performance measurement and data analytics, systems engineering for Intelligent Transportation Systems, emerging technology, and communications design.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop new client relationships for DKS and build on current client relationships, including partnerships with other consulting firms
  • Win and manage a variety of traffic signal systems projects that you are passionate about, including all elements of the project life-cycle (pre-positioning, pursuit, negotiations, project planning, technical delivery, financial management, etc.)
  • Coordinate with business development leaders throughout the company
  • Provide the leadership team with insight on market trends and growth opportunities
  • Assure client satisfaction through implementation of our Client Experience (CX) and QC/QA initiatives
  • Work with, train, and mentor less experienced staff in technical expertise, client management, and project management
  • Recruit talent and grow our practice
  • Share in the efforts to actively participate in regional, state, or national committees or working groups aimed at advancing the state of the practice for ITS, signal operations, and data analytics
  • Support a variety of medium to large-sized projects/tasks in planning-analysis and traffic operations projects that may include corridor studies, intersection and highway analysis, traffic data and performance measures, transit signal priority (TSP), traffic signal coordination, and signal design improvements
  • Prepare and review systems engineering documentation for traffic signal and ITS systems

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation, or similar field (required)
  • Master’s Degree in related field, or equivalent experience desired
  • 10+ years of experience in the Transportation Engineering industry, particularly in the field of traffic signal systems
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Working knowledge of industry practices and regulations
  • Experience with the Systems Engineering for Intelligent Transportation Systems process
  • Experience with common traffic signal controllers/firmware
  • Active participation in a professional organization (e.g., ITE, WTS, ITS America, TRB) desired
  • Project management experience on a variety of transportation engineering and operations projects, including projects with multiple subconsultants
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership experience with the interest to coach, counsel, and influence others
  • Ability to immediately support business development by securing pursuits

Salary Range: Senior Project Manager: $153,200 - $175,600 per year
