Position: Director of Youth Ministry
Type of Position: Full-Time
Location: Lexington, NC (Davidson County)
Our church is a growing congregation with people of all ages and backgrounds. Our average morning worship attendance is approximately 275. We have had a full-time youth ministry position for the last 18 years. We are part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, an evangelical denomination with ministries in over 70 nations throughout the world.
Some of What You'll Do
- Lead a team of youth sponsors in making disciples among middle and high school students
- Plan and oversee all aspects of the ministry including large-group and small-group meetings, outreach efforts, retreats, mission trips, and special events
- Teach young people from God's Word, equip the leaders to reach out to and disciple others, train the sponsors to better serve the youth
- Recruit workers as necessary and look for other ways to connect the youth group to the church as a whole
- Provide biblical counseling to youth and their families as needed
- Coordinate with the other staff members (Senior Pastor, Associate for Discipleship, Children's Director, Church Administrative Assistant)
- Participate, on occasion, in other ministries (visitation, counseling, preaching) as necessary
Qualifications
- A strong and dynamic relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ
- A commitment to the centrality and authority of the Word of God in youth ministry
- Competence in evangelizing, teaching and discipling young people
- Flexibility and a teachable spirit
- Competence in administration, reliability in communicating with parents, etc.
- Prior training and experience in youth ministry
- Bachelor's degree in Youth Ministry or other, relevant field strongly desired
- Agreement with the mission and doctrinal statement of the C&MA
- Willingness, if not yet ordained, to pursue ordination/consecration according to the requirements of the C&MA
- A basic competence with computer applications and other tools used in the ministry
We are looking for someone with a heart for the Lord and for leading young people into a life wholly devoted to Him. A vision for multiplying disciples in the youth context is important, as is a commitment to making the Bible central in teaching youth. The ability to work well with other staff members and with youth sponsors is a necessity. Prior full-time youth ministry experience is not required, but while gaining experience the Youth Pastor can expect to be mentored by the Senior Pastor and to work closely with experienced and committed church leaders and sponsors.
