Campus Security Officer Job Summary
The campus security officer provides general supervision of students on campus throughout the school day. Monitor and control traffic flow and parking. Complete visitor check ins at the front gate and ensure all visitors have a visitor pass. Communicate all campus activity via radio to all other security staff. Perform general responsibility to observe and report any and all activity on campus and complete reports based on any incidents that occur on campus. Provide general courtesy and assistance to all staff, students and visitors.
Campus Security Officer Duties & Essential Job Functions
- Complete reports based on incident observation
- Staff front gate guard booth at all times
- Log all visitors and deliveries
- Provide direction and courteous assistance to all visitors
- Be present and visible at all times
- Control and monitor parking and traffic flow
- Follows and adheres to all Diocesan, school, and security policies & procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Be able to deescalate volatile situations
- Lifting heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
Campus Security Officer Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- All employees must be at least 18 years of age.
- You must have customer service skills and the ability to communicate with others in an informative and non-confrontational manner.
- You must be able to follow basic instructions and follow simple procedures
- Possess a Valid and current security guard card issued by the California Bureau of Security & Investigative Services
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Campus Security Officer Required Licenses/Certifications
Per Title 16, California Code of Regulations, Section 643 every security guard must possess a valid California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services Guard Registration Card (Guard Card). A "Guard Card" is the license that all security officers in California should have in order to work. Also need to be First Aid and CPR certified.
Campus Security Officer Preferred Qualifications
Some college coursework and/or a 2 year or 4 year degree from an accredited institution.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
Ability to hear and speak to exchange information in person, on the telephone and two-way radio; seeing to read a variety of documents; reaching overhead, above the shoulders or horizontally, or bending at the waist; dexterity of hands and fingers to work with students; standing for extended periods of time; walking and running; climbing stairs; lifting heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
