Volunteer Coordinator

The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is seeking an experienced Volunteer Coordinator for the Development department.
WORK HOURS: Monday-Friday, 9-5 and 10-6 with a paid, 30-minute lunch break; at least three (3) nights per week will be late nights working until 6pm to work with volunteers as needed. Schedule will be flexed to work later hours and during special events and conferences.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Serves as the central point of contact and coordinator of all community, civic, and corporate volunteer opportunities that support DCAC. Responsible for all volunteer related activities, including relationship stewardship, recruitment, overseeing the volunteer application process, conducting volunteer training and onboarding, supervising volunteer assignments and work, while maintaining current and accurate documentation.
ABOUT DCAC: The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases. We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary approach, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non-offending family members.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Stewardship:
- Develops and maintains strong, positive relationships with social, civic, local, and corporate organizations to develop partnerships for mutual benefit.
- Maintains collegial relationships with peers in the field and with area volunteer organizations to ensure best practices for volunteer programming.
- Collaborates with all DCAC departments to identify available opportunities and needs for volunteers; educates departments and supervisors on working with volunteers.
- Ensures appropriate supervision of volunteers and assists with conflict resolution, as needed.
- Maintains and manages the volunteer appreciation budget appropriately and within guidelines.
Volunteer Management:
- Trains staff to work with volunteers and equips them with the necessary competencies to lead volunteers. Ensures a process is in place for staff to resolve conflicts with volunteers.
- Serves as the point of contact for all volunteers in the building; ensures sign-in and sign-out procedures are followed and connects volunteers with appropriate staff.
- Regularly communicates with volunteers, assisting with issues and providing feedback.
- Creates and deploys all volunteer-related communication, including pre- and post-event information.
- Collaborates with marketing to co-create a monthly volunteer newsletter, Volunteer Voice.
Special Events:
- Supports agency and fundraising events to ensure volunteer needs are met for a successful event.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule leading up to and during special events.
Volunteer Recruitment:
- Sources and recruits volunteers through presentations, community fairs, phone calls, and emails.
- Collaborates with marketing to maintain recruitment materials and website information.
- Ensures logistical arrangements for recruitment and engagement events.
Volunteer On-boarding:
- Maintains and oversees the volunteer application process, including background checks and interviews.
- Conducts general volunteer training and coordinates family advocate attendance.
- Matches volunteers with appropriate opportunities based on their skills and interests.
Program Compliance:
- Maintains the volunteer database with accurate records.
- Tracks volunteer hours and provides reports to agency stakeholders.
- Drafts and maintains the Volunteer Policy and Procedures Manual.
Other Duties:
- Attends weekly/monthly supervision meetings and completes agency-related training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required License(s) or Certifications: Clear and valid Texas Driver’s License

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work Location: Office-based with potential for one remote day per week after 90 days of employment.
Mental and Physical Abilities: Duties usually seated with occasional standing or walking; limited physical effort required.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.92 - $26.92 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day and Evening shifts from Monday to Friday
