ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD), reporting to the Division of Student Success, is the university's centralized career planning and employment assistance service for USF students and alumni. The programs in the CCPD are designed to help students and graduates assess, explore, develop, and implement their career goals, gain employability skills and career-related experiences, prepare for a successful transition into graduate/professional school or the labor market, and connect with employers to obtain part-time jobs, internships, cooperative education, and professional employment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The ideal candidate will report directly to the Assistant Vice President and will work closely with the Career & Professional Development (CCPD) team and across the University. This role includes managing an Assistant Director and a team of Career Coaches and Peer Careers. Responsibilities include training new career coaches, establishing the annual program/workshop schedule, developing partnerships with faculty and academic departments, overseeing program assessment, and providing one-on-one career coaching.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Career Development team: Conduct weekly meetings, provide training and professional development, and perform annual evaluations.
- One-on-one coaching: Offer coaching for students and alumni on career topics, maintain data and records, and uphold confidentiality standards.
- Program development: Identify and deliver new programs/workshops and effectively present to various audiences, including at professional conferences.
- Collaboration: Work with the CCPD leadership to ensure strategic partnerships and new initiatives that foster trust and value across the university.
- Support overall success of CCPD: Participate in committees, represent CCPD at meetings, and assist with events as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of seven years related experience, including five years in a managerial role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree or higher, experience in career development or a related field, and strong organizational and communication skills.
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING
Graduate coursework in counseling, knowledge of career development theories, labor market trends, and experience with career management software.
