Job Overview

Bockmon & Woody Electric Co., Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers a unique opportunity to support large-scale electrical construction projects from start to finish. The Project Engineer will work closely with project managers, field supervisors, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution and high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Start-Up:
• Assist in reviewing subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure scope coverage and cost alignment.
• Help create initial project documentation, including schedules, baseline values, and material submittals.
• Coordinate project handoffs with foremen, ensuring all documentation (submittals, RFIs, PCOs) is up to date.
• Pre-Construction:
• Attend coordination meetings and review design documents for installation feasibility.
• Oversee pre-construction packages, including pre-fabrication orders, and ensure timely delivery to the field.
• Identify potential equipment/material issues and generate RFIs as needed.
• Project Execution:
• Track submittal packages through the review process, address comments, and prepare revised submissions.
• Draft RFIs based on field communication and assist in obtaining responses from relevant stakeholders.
• Build and manage PCOs (pricing, tracking, and submission to customers) and follow up on approvals.
• Support monthly billing by tracking work progress, reviewing invoices, and managing labor compliance.
• Project Management Support:
• Assist in updating schedules (3WLA/Dailies/Baseline).
• Provide tracking reports comparing foreman takeoffs and actual costs.
• Obtain material quotes for specialty equipment and manage delivery logistics.
• Project Closeout:
• Collaborate with project assistants on closeout packages.
• Coordinate punch list completion and other closeout requirements.
• Support project managers with additional closeout tasks as needed.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a project engineering or similar role, preferably in electrical construction.
• Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Jonas, or EBM systems).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
