About The Role

Are you ready to lead Touchstone Climbing’s newest and most exciting gym in the Bay Area? Hyperion, located in Redwood City, is more than just a climbing and fitness facility—it’s a hub for community, inclusivity, and personal growth. We’re looking for a Gym Manager to take the reins and build this space into a thriving, welcoming destination for climbers and fitness enthusiasts alike.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the identity of a brand-new gym, drive its success, and make a meaningful impact on the local community.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

• Build and lead a strong, passionate team by hiring, training, and mentoring staff, including supervisors, front desk, and maintenance teams.
• Foster a positive, inclusive work environment that supports growth, accountability, and collaboration.
• Serve as a leader and role model for professionalism, excellent service, and community engagement.
  
  

Operations & Facility Management

• Ensure Hyperion operates seamlessly, maintaining Touchstone’s high standards for cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
• Manage budgets, analyze performance metrics, and implement strategies to optimize operations.
• Oversee climbing wall inspections, equipment maintenance, and other facility improvements.
  
  

Community Building

• Create a welcoming and vibrant environment by engaging with members and responding to their feedback.
• Organize events, programs, and initiatives that celebrate and support the local climbing and fitness community.
• Collaborate with Touchstone’s marketing team to promote Hyperion’s unique offerings and foster its identity.
  
  

What You Bring

• Required: Leadership experience in customer-focused industries (e.g., gyms, recreation centers, hospitality).
• Intermediate technology skills, using programs such as Google Workspace, Slack, HRIS/Timekeeping programs
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a results-oriented mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution.
• Preferred: Familiarity with climbing or fitness industries, including route setting or facility management.
• A passion for climbing, and creating inclusive spaces that celebrate diversity and foster community.

Compensation

Starting Pay is $80,000 per year. Gym Manager individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to; facility location and type, membership volume, experience, and job/position tenure.
