RN - GI Lab

General Job Duties:

Knowledgeable and skillful in preparing and assisting physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

• Procedures performed include but not limited to: EGD, Colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS, Bronchoscopy.

Administration of and monitoring patients receiving moderate sedation.

Equipment Utilized in the Unit/Dept:

• Olympus Scopes and video system.
• Medication System - Pyxis.
• Electronic Health Record - EPIC.

Required Skills and Minimum Years of Experience:

• IV skills.
• Organized, flexible.
• Good communication.
• Team Player.

Specific Licensures and Certifications/Registrations Required:

• BLS required, ACLS recommended.

Shift or Schedule Requirements:

• Typically, 8-hour shifts; M-F (shift to be determined at time of request).
• Rotating call weeknights, weekends, and holiday coverage.
• Call is currently shared among 4 RNs.

Floating to Other Units/Departments:

• No floating required.

Bed Size/Number of Rooms for This Unit/Dept:

• 4 Procedure rooms, 3 bed recovery.

Nurse to Patient Ratio of This Unit:

• Inpatient and Outpatient procedures performed with an average daily number of procedures 12.

Dress Code:

• Any color of scrubs.

Unit/Department Specific Training and Orientation Program:

• Paired with preceptor for orientation.
