Patient Care Technician - Emergency Department - Full Time Nights

Performs basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision. Responsibilities: Aids with movement and placement of patients. Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living. Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Documents necessary records. Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment. Performs emergency department specific care/duties as assigned within scope of job.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

- Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills normally acquired through the completion of a high school education or GED program. - Competence acquired through one of the following is required: - Emergency Medical Technician certification. - Completion of (2) clinical semesters in a school of nursing program. - Six (6) months of previous experience in an emergency department in a position that required skills in venipuncture, EKGs, urinary catheterization, knowledge of sterile technique, and splint application in the last two (2) years. - CNA with 1-2 years of experience.
