Job Summary
We are seeking an Animal Care Technician II (Floater) to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Cambridge, MA.
As the Animal Care Technician II (Floater), you will maintain, monitor, document the health, production, and physical environment within the animal care facilities. In addition, support cagewash operations. Additional responsibilities include:
- Perform animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of research animals, which includes, but not limited to: daily water bottle/automatic water line and cage checks; provide appropriate food and water; perform cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required; record animal health concerns per SOP and/or specified protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing/isolator or support areas as required by the Institute and facility.
- Assist with restraint, handling and manipulation of various animal species as assigned by the on-site supervisor or facility veterinarian.
- Performs and ensures daily cage wash operations, including sanitizing equipment, training, and preventive maintenance in a multi-species animal research facility.
- Support of non-cage wash vivaria areas (including rack sanitation, PPE/supply stations and waste management).
Job Qualifications
The following are minimum requirements related to the Animal Care Technician II (Floater) position:
- High school diploma or general education degree
- Minimum of two years directly related to laboratory animal experience
- ALAT certification preferred
Combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
The pay range for this position is $26 to $29 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
