Department: Special Events Operations Manager

Reports to: Special Events Director

Classification: Full-Time/Exempt

Summary/Objective:

The Special Events Operations Manager will be responsible for day-to-day operations of the Special events department at Constellation Field. The role requires the planning and executing of setups and tear downs of events, scheduling of staff and third-party vendors. This position will require the responsibilities to take leads on events and communicate with clients on a day-to-day basis. This candidate will be task to continue the growth and customer service of the special events department.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

The event operations manager handles the responsibilities for day-to-day operations of the events department. Makes sure spaces around the ballpark are ready for non-game days events. Also responsible for reset from post event logistics. Able to solve operational problems during events in a timely manner, troubleshoot and have great decision-making skills while being under pressure. Ideal candidate should be able to work events individually and with a team and make decisions that follow the standard of Constellation Field.

Other responsibilities:

  • Scheduling staffing, EMT and Security for all special events.
  • Able to communicate with third party vendors and other departments.
  • Sell Constellation Field as a unique venue in the Houston area.
  • Able to follow the special events calendar to meet all event requirements and the preparation of each event.
  • Handle special event budgets as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience & Skills:

  • 2+ years of event operations or Sports industry background.
  • Ability to communicate articulately and confidently both verbally and in writing with individuals at every level of an external organization.
  • Collaborative working style, yet comfortable completing tasks independently.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and possesses active listening skills.
  • Strong work ethic and outstanding attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of baseball and willing to handle non-space cowboys baseball events.
  • Knowledge of Christmas lights. Handle and operate setup of Sugar Land Holiday Lights.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages part-time staff, associates and third party vendors as required per each special event.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office and outdoor hands-on setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones. This role also uses tools such as a drill, hammer, and other power tools. The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision.

Able to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including; extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Travel

Rare travel may be expected for this position.
