Role Summary

The Athlete Relations Coordinator plays an integral role in promoting the work and mission of OneTeam to help athletes, specifically college athletes, maximize their name, image and likeness. This role will serve across the organization to help identify and procure talent for all properties for athlete marketing, sponsorship, licensing, and content needs. This role will help identify talent who will deliver on authentic brand objectives within the budget and parameters necessary. This role will be responsible for assisting with content ideas, athlete recommendations based on essential criteria and must be a critical thinker with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadlines. Additionally, this role may help manage the talent throughout the activation and will recap the activation in coordination with other departments within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain OneTeam’s proprietary database of athlete attributes to support pitches and proposals for athlete marketing and content opportunities.
  • Assist with concept creation/ideation for brands core business objectives as it relates to talent.
  • Develop and cultivate strong cross-departmental relationships within OneTeam,, specifically with OneTeam’s college department.
  • Draft player contracts, manage internal legal approvals, and distribute finalized agreements to players.
  • Manage all college athlete payments in collaboration with OneTeam’s controller to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Manage and update data entry in platforms like Asana and Airtable to support account management and operational transparency. Serve as coordinator for the athlete relations department, including scheduling meetings, handling expenses, and other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Own and manage end-to-end ONIT Athlete autograph procurement including but not limited to athlete outreach, rate and quantity negotiation, logistics coordination, and agreement development and execution.
  • Identify, negotiate, and secure college athletes for brand projects as OneTeam College aims to expand past the passive group licensing arena and into the activation space.
  • Collaborate closely with the College team, serving as the key conduit between business operations, legal, College, and AR for any college athlete focused activation opportunities and needs.
  • Collaborate with College team to build process and execute on collection and updating of all NIL information for athletes (e.g., if they transfer, graduate, go pro).

Key Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1-4 years of experience running or working closely with athletes, talent, talent-booking, unions, or other related organization; experience with branded content is a plus.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, with the ability to manage a high volume of tasks, and balance several ongoing projects at one time.
  • Proficiency with database software (e.g., Airtable, Asana, excel), Microsoft Office (e.g., PowerPoint, Outlook) is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage relationships across various personalities.
  • Compelling communicator and relationship builder with an incredibly strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with athletes and athlete management.
  • Knowledge of current trends in athlete marketing and media, specifically in the college space.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player who thrives in collaborative environments.
  • Adaptable, resourceful, and capable of learning in a dynamic environment.
  • Passionate about sports, advocating for athletes, and knowledgeable about OneTeam’s mission.

Compensation

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 + bonus opportunity

OneTeam Partners offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, supplemental benefits, wellness benefits, paid vacation, and a 401k plan. The above compensation reflects the anticipated salary range for this position based on Los Angeles, CA and current national data. Working Conditions

The Athlete Relations Coordinator role primarily involves office-based work with extended periods of sitting, frequent computer use, and active participation in virtual and in-person meetings. The role may occasionally require lifting light objects like promotional materials and traveling to events, which could include walking, standing, and handling materials for extended periods. Regular communication with internal teams and external partners is a key aspect of the role, requiring strong verbal and written communication skills. The position necessitates effective organizational skills, the ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines, and the flexibility to adapt to evolving priorities. This role can be remote or based in an office setting, depending on organizational needs.
