Responsibilities
This position is responsible for providing technical assistance, support, and knowledge transfer regarding the maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of Fire Detection Systems, Gas Detection, and Fire Suppression Systems in NYCT locations. Responsibilities include critical system issue resolution, diagnostics, liaison with vendors, reviewing specifications, new installations, upgrades, design drawings, field inspections, surveys, and conducting training for in-house operations staff. Interaction with Construction Managers and support groups ensures compliance with applicable NYCT Policies, NFPA, and local codes.
Education and Experience
- Baccalaureate degree in relevant fields plus two years of experience; or
- Associate degree plus four years of experience; or
- High school diploma plus six years of experience; or
- Equivalent education/experience combination.
Special Notes
- Eligibility for Assignment Level II requires a year at Level I or equivalent duties.
- Eligibility for Level III requires a year at Level II or equivalent duties.
- Eligibility for Level IV requires a year at Level III or equivalent duties, with supervisory experience.
Desired Skills
- Experience in life safety system design, plan review, and commissioning.
- Knowledge of New York State Building and Fire Codes, NYC Fire Prevention Code, NYC Fire Department Rules, and NFPA Standards.
- NYS Code Enforcement Certification, NICET Certification.
- Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills.
