The HR Specialist plays a key role in managing the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. This role is responsible for performing a variety of HR-related duties on a professional level across multiple HR functions, including: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and performance management. The HR Specialist reports to the Sr. HR Manager and ensures alignment with organizational goals while providing support to both managers and employees.

This role is responsible for performing a variety of HR-related duties on a professional level across multiple HR functions, including: recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and performance management. The HR Specialist reports to the Sr. HR Manager and ensures alignment with organizational goals while providing support to both managers and employees.
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the recruitment process including posting job ads, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks, and facilitating the finalization of employment offer letters.
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including orientation, benefits enrollment, and ensuring proper documentation is completed.
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures.
- Assist with conflict resolution, employee coaching, and performance improvement plans.
- Aid with employee engagement initiatives and activities.
- Provide support with the administration of employee benefit programs including health, retirement, and wellness plans.
- Lead in payroll processing and ensure all employee records are correct and compliant.
- Work with HR Manager in ensuring HR practices are compliant with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain employee records and HR databases with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist HR Manager with updating and implementation of HR policies and procedures as needed.
- Support performance management processes by tracking evaluation deadlines and collecting necessary documents.
- Monitor trends in employee turnover, satisfaction, and engagement.
- Assist in identifying training needs and organizing appropriate programs.
- Investigate and maintain records of workplace accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
- Supports the day to day operations of the office such as ordering supplies, keeping the office clean and organized, coordinating maintenance and arrange for repairs
- Solid understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in HRIS systems, Google Workspace and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Insperity a plus.
- Self-motivated, combining initiative with complete follow-through is a must
- Have a proactive approach to problem solving and be resourceful to get things done
- Excellent organizational skills with time management and ability to prioritize
- Exercise discretion and confidentiality while demonstrating a high personal standard of ethics and integrity
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 2-3 years of experience as an HR Specialist or in a similar HR role.
