  • PURPOSE OF ROLE:

Leads and oversees the Maintenance Department Team in high volume resin packaging environment by providing technical support and high-level direction and management. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Ensures the facility meets company and OSHA health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards. Ensures all Assets and Production Lines are properly maintained following OEMs’ recommendations and industry best practices. Identifies and monitor KPIs and metrics on different processes inside the Maintenance Department. Implements Maintenance Management System and evaluates continual improvement on key processes and critical equipment. Plans and coordinates schedule of preventive maintenance for equipment, machinery, tools, and buildings. Manages the overall conditions of facility and campus building and grounds.

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Interviews, hires, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Manages Maintenance Department providing high level directions and technical support to Maintenance Team.
  • Develops and implements preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure reliable operational performance
  • Enforces Environmental, Health and Safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Trains and serves as mentor for the maintenance team to promote continuous improvement and adherence to best practices
  • Oversees day-to-day maintenance team activities, monitors and reviews accuracy of work and expected schedule to completion.
  • Plans and carries out successive steps and resolves problems and deviations in accordance with instructions, policies, and accepted practices.
  • Adheres to Company policies, practices and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet special needs.
  • Drives problem resolution and meets quality and scheduling requirements.
  • Promotes respect within and outside the work group, teaches and encourages collaborative problem solving and effective working relationships.
  • Interfaces daily with other functional areas including Safety, Operations and Logistics.
  • Reviews maintenance schedules, materials inventory and availability, equipment/vehicle, and personnel availability.
  • Estimates time and material costs for maintenance-related and site improvement projects.
  • Facilitates changes to schedule(s) as needed to meet job priorities and minimize downtime.
  • Manages CMMS (MPulse) at a high-level and ensures system is updated accordingly.
  • Maintains oversight for maintenance budget.
  • Commits to Operation Clean Sweep & OSHA Safety facility Standards.
  • Provides regular reports maintenance activities, performance metrics, and any issues that arise to site management
  • Ensure department maintains a clean and organized workspace
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager
  • Procurement:
    • Generates purchase orders to requisition tools, equipment, supplies, and services.
    • Evaluates vendors of supplies and services to determine effectiveness.
    • Estimates costs of personnel, parts, and supplies to be used during maintenance.
    • KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE
    • Minimum 7 years in related positions within a warehouse, packaging, and distribution environment.
    • Strong knowledge of methods, principles and practices of operations, equipment optimization and facility maintenance.
    • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and conveyance systems.
    • Strong knowledge of scheduling, budget preparation and understanding of cost control.
    • Responsible for establishing and managing KPIs, budgets and making high-level decisions.
    • Good verbal communications and interpersonal skills to interface with and motivate all levels of personnel.
    • Able to read, write and comprehend English. Fluent Spanish is a plus
    • Computer skills for preparing work orders, purchasing requisitions and operations reports.
    • Proficiency in the care and use of all required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
    • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Frequently lift up to 55 lbs. and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time.
    • May be required to use ladders or stairs.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Requires close visual observation to detect process non-conformance and machine malfunction.

    Work Environment: Typically spends 20% of time in operations environment and 80% of time in office environment.

    Possible Work Hazards: May be exposed to possible operations hazards including dust, fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals, rotating machinery, high pressure, hot or cold work temperatures, slippery surfaces, water, and electrical hazards.
