The location for this position can be based out of the following Terracon offices:

  • Omaha, Nebraska
  • Des Moines, Iowa
  • Cedar Rapids, Iowa

General Responsibilities:

As the Manager of Regional Services, you will lead a team of Site Characterization and Exploration employee-owners and be responsible for the successful execution of the Exploration business segment. Your role will encompass a range of responsibilities, including standardizing policies and procedures, managing profit/loss, supervising employees, project management, quality control, health and safety oversight, client relations, and new business development.

Job Level Description:

  • Ensure consistent operations and practices across Terracon's Iowa and Nebraska Teams, handling operations with gross revenue typically between $5-10 million. This involves providing training, conducting drill rig safety inspections, and monitoring/balancing workload.
  • Monitor the performance of regional teams through site visits, safety incident and near miss investigations, quality audits and metrics, and provide recommendations for improvement to Division/Service Line Management.
  • Provide mentorship, leadership, and direction on drilling practices and rig utilization/fleet management to local offices and Junior Operational Staff.
  • Partner with other Regional Managers to develop and deliver coordinated and consistent exploration services across all regions.
  • Assist local offices with marketing activities related to exploration services including pricing, planning and drill methods.
  • Prepare annual and financial budgets and operate within approved budgets.
  • Participate and provide input in the recruitment, interview and selection process for drillers.
  • Understand project risks and know what could go wrong. Protect the company by following risk policies. Act as a Subject Matter Expert in specific technical areas according to your discipline.
  • Communicates safety initiatives, rules and guidelines for Office and Regional Employees. Holds Managers and Employees accountable for following safety rules and guidelines.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects and ensure best practices are being followed and hold Managers accountable for quality control standards.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Geology and/or combination equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience of site exploration management experience.
  • Ability to travel to Terracon offices within the US on a routine basis.
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing peers and superiors to achieve positive change.
  • Proficient knowledge of multiple exploration methods and subject matter expertise in particular technical discipline areas (e.g. In-situ, CPT, Environmental Characterization, remediation, etc.).
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Required Certification:

  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour course; must attend within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Certification:

  • Certification or licensure in field of expertise.
  • 15+ of relevant experience preferred
