Position Summary
As an AI Research Engineer at Wand, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between research and engineering. You will collaborate with research teams to accelerate the development of AI models and systems, taking research concepts from idea to implementation and evaluation to deployment. You will contribute to a variety of tasks, from implementing cutting-edge algorithms and producing experimental results to drafting reports and publications that showcase our breakthroughs. This is a hands-on, research-driven role where you will make an impact on both technical innovation and enterprise AI solutions.

Responsibilities
- - Collaborate with research scientists to design, implement, and optimize AI models and algorithms based on the latest research work.
- - Read and implement ideas from academic research papers, translating them into actionable and iterative engineering tasks in a time-boxed manner.
- - Implement experimental models, evaluate their performance, and iterate on solutions to improve results.
- - Work closely with the engineering team to translate research results into production-ready systems.
- - Contribute to writing reports, research papers, and presentations to showcase project results.
- - Develop and maintain software infrastructure for research experimentation, including datasets, model training, and evaluation tools.
- - Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, AI, or a related field.
- - 3+ years of experience in AI research, ideally in an applied setting.
- - Contributions to novel research, preferably published at top AI/ML venues or impactful datasets or tooling (along with specification of exact contribution)
- - Strong programming skills in Python and experience with machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- - Familiarity with research methodologies, experiment design, and statistical analysis.
- - Demonstrated experience working with state-of-the-art AI models, especially in areas like NLP and multi-agent systems.
- - Ability to read and understand complex academic research papers and translate them quickly into practical implementations.
- - Strong collaboration skills to work across research and engineering teams.
- - Expertise in research infrastructure and tools (e.g., dataset curation, model evaluation pipelines).
- - Prior contributions to academic or industrial research projects in AI.
- Strong individual contributor with the ability to work independently. Own problems end-to-end, and are willing to pick up whatever knowledge you're missing to get the job done
