Cathcart Rail, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is a leading freight rail services and transportation company. We employ nearly 1,000 employees in more than 100 locations in 33 states and operate the largest railcar services network in the industry, encompassing 18 large railcar repair facilities and more than 75 field services locations in addition to a rail services division that operates three short line railroads and a dozen contract switching and transloading sites.
The Plant Manager serves as the business leader for the facility and will lead site management as they work together towards meeting the financial and operational goals of the facility with a focus on safety and quality. The responsibilities will include but are not limited to leading overall operations including safety, quality assurance, production, customer service, materials, human resources, and finance. The Plant Manager will report to the SVP of Operations and will be held accountable for meeting defined metrics in safety, quality, operational effectiveness, and budgeting at the facility.
Duties And Responsibilities

Duties And Responsibilities
- Communicate corporate objectives, drive expectations, ensure safety, quality and production metrics are being met.
- Ensure safety is the highest priority within the facility; strive for continuous improvement in compliance with federal, state and company directives.
- Lead by example, coach and develop management team centered around ARS cores values of Safety, Quality, and Integrity.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationship with all facility employees.
- Ensure facility focuses on a positive customer experience, including prompt communication, accurate information, and consistent delivery.
- Focus on continuous improvement in all areas of facility management. Develop and propose improvement plans for senior leadership consideration.
- Maintain key performance metrics for the operation
- Accepts responsibility for the financial stewardship for the facility, including cost management across the facility.
- Responsible for ensuring companywide programs, policies, and procedures are implemented effectively within the facility.
- Coordinate internal and external resources as needed to provide Team Member training, endeavor for efficiency improvements, and reduce quality non-conformances
- Preference for bachelor’s degree in Business or related field or equivalent experience
- At least Seven plus (7+) years minimum experience required in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment. Railcar repair experience strongly preferred
- Five (5+) years minimum of successful management experience managing multiple levels with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to run a successful operation.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to translate strategies into operation objectives and projects.
- Strong analytical skills, self-motivated with excellent teamwork.
