Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Mechanical Engineering Manager to work in our Bellingham, WA location.

Founded in 2014 and headquartered in the Pacific Northwest, Sedron designs, manufactures, installs, and operates advanced water and waste upcycling technologies. With a focus on transforming the paradigm from waste processing to resource recovery, Sedron works with agricultural, municipal, and industrial customers to process their “waste” into climate-smart commodities through environmentally and financially sustainable methods.

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager with over 10 years of engineering experience to lead the design, development, and integration of advanced industrial equipment. This leadership role will focus on overseeing an engineering team responsible for custom mechanical systems, including heat exchangers, pressure vessels, material conveyance systems, pumping systems, and structural weldments. The ideal candidate will provide strategic direction, manage engineering projects, and ensure high-performance industrial solutions are developed on time, within budget, and at the highest quality standards.

We are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:    

  • Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering professional growth. Oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and technical specifications.
  • Direct the design and development of industrial equipment and processes, ensuring successful delivery from concept through manufacturing and commissioning. Ensure engineering teams collaborate efficiently across disciplines.
  • Provide high-level technical guidance for the development of systems such as heat exchangers, pressure vessels, material conveyance systems, pumping systems, and structural weldments. Perform and review critical engineering calculations, including heat transfer, mass and energy balance, stress analysis, and pressure drop.
  • Serve as the key liaison between customers, senior leadership, and internal technical teams, driving progress through all stages of the project lifecycle. Ensure clear communication and alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, safety, quality, and efficiency practices. Lead initiatives to improve safety standards, manufacturing readiness, and operational performance.
  • Oversee material organization and readiness for manufacturing, including conducting procurement activities. Ensure that all resources are efficiently utilized to meet project requirements.
  • Solve complex technical challenges with creative, innovative solutions. Lead efforts to deliver high-performance systems that meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety protocols (including 5S and HazMat practices), and quality assurance guidelines.

Education/Experience  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 10+ years of industry experience in mechanical design, development, and commissioning of industrial equipment.
  • Advanced proficiency in CAD software (NX or equivalent) for 3D modeling and drafting. Strong understanding of steam tables, pump and fan curves, fluid enthalpy changes, and materials/manufacturing principles.
  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams and managing projects from concept through completion, balancing technical, operational, and resource priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other engineering tools.
  • Ability to solve complex engineering challenges with creativity and innovation, while maintaining project goals and budget.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented work environment.

Additional Information 

  • Compensation range for this role is between $100,000 to $140,000 annually
  • Discretionary bonus  
  • The range provided is Sedron’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
