Description

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing our dealership's fleet of vehicles. This role involves a wide range of duties, including vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and disposal. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the automotive industry, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage a team effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Fleet Planning and Management:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive fleet management strategy.
    • Monitor fleet performance metrics, including fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and vehicle utilization.
    • Analyze fleet data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
    • Forecast future fleet needs based on business growth and operational requirements.
  • Vehicle Acquisition and Disposal:
    • Research and select suitable vehicles based on factors like cost, fuel efficiency, and safety standards.
    • Negotiate favorable deals with vehicle manufacturers and dealerships.
    • Manage the vehicle acquisition process, including ordering, delivery, and registration.
    • Develop and implement a vehicle disposal policy, including trade-ins, auctions, and salvage.
  • Fleet Maintenance and Repair:
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles, including scheduling routine inspections and repairs.
    • Work with authorized service providers to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance.
    • Monitor vehicle maintenance records and ensure compliance with manufacturer's recommendations.
    • Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize breakdowns and extend vehicle life.
  • Driver Management:
    • Enforce company policies and procedures related to vehicle use and safety.
    • Conduct driver training programs to improve driving skills and fuel efficiency.
    • Monitor driver behavior and address any issues promptly.
    • Implement driver incentive programs to promote safe driving and fuel efficiency.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control:
    • Develop and manage the fleet budget, including expenses for fuel, maintenance, repairs, and vehicle acquisitions.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to reduce fleet operating costs.
    • Monitor fuel consumption and implement fuel-saving initiatives.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including safety standards, emissions regulations, and tax laws.
    • Manage insurance claims and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans.
    • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Demonstrates a high “HQ” (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in fleet management or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive technology and maintenance practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel to various locations as needed.
