PURPOSE:

The HR Generalist will deliver operational and practical support to THOR in a way that adds real value to the business. You will manage and be the main point of contact for onboarding, the THOR internship and recognition programs, as well as the processing of payroll on a bi-weekly basis.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Onboarding

  • Set up onboarding in ADP and send welcome email.
  • Set up drug screen and background check.
  • Communicate new hire to IT and book orientation date.
  • Monitor completion of onboarding modules.
  • Send new hire box 1 week prior to start date.
  • Compile new hire folder with materials – benefits information, payroll calendar, etc.
  • Meet with new hire on day 1 after IT sets up computer to review pertinent information.
  • ADP, employee benefits, company culture, events, tour building, and alarm system.

Internship Program

  • Work with departments to identify need for interns and compile job descriptions.
  • Designate local universities for job fairs and attend events.
  • Post jobs on Handshake.
  • Coordinate onboarding with managers.
  • Coordinate “intern day” soon after start date – introduction to THOR, plant visit, etc.

Recognition Programs

Annual Recognition

  • Track years of service for service awards.
  • Order awards – review and approve mockups.
  • Order gift cards.
  • Review awards for any significant years of service that should be highlighted at event.

Ongoing Recognition

  • Order milestone cards as needed – i.e. birthday, baby, wedding.
  • For birth of child and weddings, get card signed by ELT, get gift cards, deliver.
  • Set up Thnks delivery for remote team members for birthdays.
  • Pick up gift cards from local restaurants for birthday gift cards.

Culture / Events

  • Assist with planning and coordination of events.

Payroll (Bi-Weekly)

  • Verify timecards are submitted and approved.
  • Verify vacation requests are approved.
  • Email supervisors with payroll related requests as needed.
  • Check for any 401(k) elections / changes.
  • Verify any special payments or deductions.
  • Process payroll and provide for approval.
  • Finalize payroll after approval and send applicable reporting to finance.

Employee Relations

  • Collaborate and communicate with team members to understand potential issues and concerns.
  • Assist with exit interviews.
  • Coordinate the Trail Guide program.

THOR/Forest River Foundation

  • Process applications for the THOR/Forest River Foundation
  • Review eligibility and contact applicants to discuss request
  • Submit request for approval
  • Contact operating companies to coordinate disbursement of checks


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-4 years’ experience in an HR Generalist role or similar position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
