Qualifications and Detail about the Position

Summary:

A Helper is responsible for performing general non-craft labor as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Promote, demonstrate and instill Brock’s safe and best culture in all aspects of the business
• Comply with all manufacturer’s specifications
• Work closely with assigned Mentor as per SSW Program
• Follow all Brock, Contractor’s, and governmental safety requirements
• Perform work in accordance with Contractor Specifications
• Take direction from supervisor to learn the proper tools and equipment to use for specified tasks
• Complete safety paperwork such as FLRA’s, Sharp Cards, etc.
• Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

• Meet Brock’s Fit For Duty Program
• Ability to meet and maintain customer requirements for site access
• Work in an indoor and outdoor environment including field, yard, shop locations, and office.
• Necessary Personal Protective Equipment is required.
• Travel as required
• Working at heights
• Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work in all types of environments, extreme heat or cold
• Able to work in confined spaces
• Must have transportation to and from the work location

• Ability to understand and follow directions

Working Conditions:

• ORIENTATION - Must be able to successfully pass Brock and/or Safety Council Site Specific Orientation requirements.
• HEAVY WORK - Lifting up to 50 pounds from the floor to the waist and 35 pounds from the waist to above shoulder.
• CLIMBING - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and the like, to elevations in excess of 100 feet.
• LADDERS - Using vertical ladders frequently up to 100 feet.
• STAIRS & RAMPS - Using stairs or ramps: Occasionally up to 100 feet.
• BALANCING - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when working at heights or using fall protection equipment.
• STOOPING - Bending at the waist, using leg and back muscles on a repetitive basis.
• KNEELING - Resting on knees occasionally.
• CROUCHING - Bending downward and forward by bending legs and waist.
• REACHING - Extending hands and arms to receive materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• GRIPPING - Working with hands to handle materials up to 50 pounds.
• VISION - 20/40 vision with or without correction in at least one eye.
• HEARING - Must be able to hear a forced whispered voice in one ear at not less than five feet.
• WEATHER EXPOSURE - Conditions can range from -10 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
• PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT - Must use required personal protective equipment for the job.
• INSULATION TOOLS - Use of insulation tools commonly associated with this type of work.
