Shipping Clerk

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing orders for domestic and international shipments, performing clerical tasks, and keeping records of outgoing merchandise.

• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

• Maintain proper inventory counts and identify any discrepancies that may exist. Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.

• Mark stockitems using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.

• Execute information with Logistics (freight companies) promptly to ensure the best possible freight prices.

• Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.

• Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
• Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom and warehouse workers.
• Issue or distribute materials, products, parts, and supplies to customers or partners, based on information from incoming requisitions.

• May assist with opening and closing the gates.

• Drive forklift trucks to pick up outgoing stock or deliver parts to designated locations.
• Prepare products, supplies, equipment, or other items for use by adjusting, repairing, or assembling them as necessary.

Computer Skills

• Basic understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

The warehouse setting can be loud, varied temperatures, and is fast-paced.
