OVERVIEW:
The Research Analyst position is part of a team responsible for monitoring and sourcing investments for our clients. This individual will primarily be responsible for performing in-depth fundamental due diligence on existing and prospective managers, providing opinions and recommendations to the firm's Investment Committee. Additionally, this individual will develop and maintain excellent industry relationships and represent the firm well internally and externally.
This position will operate in a hybrid work environment, 3 days per week in the office (Philadelphia, PA).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Source and Monitor. Identify and source prospective investments for inclusion in client portfolios. Monitor existing managers to ensure the investment proposition is still attractive and risks are within expectations.
- Analysis. The individual is responsible for performing detailed independent analysis on existing investments and for providing recommendations to the firm's investment team. Construct well-supported investment recommendations to the firm's investment committee highlighting the underlying opportunity, the manager's edge, and risks associated with a potential investment. In addition, remain up-to-date on industry trends, regulatory matters, and market events impacting funds, managers, clients, and the industry.
- Portfolio Manager Support. Serve as the point person on specific investments and support our portfolio management and investment teams in all activities related to managing our portfolios. In addition, work with internal partners and interface with clients as needed.
- Firm Building. Active engagement in department-specific and firm-wide initiatives to expand capabilities, create solutions to unmet business needs, improve client experience, or develop more efficient processes. Have the ability and willingness to contribute to the advancement of team, office, and business capabilities. Participate in ad hoc projects requested by management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in economics or finance
- 5+ years of experience in financial markets, preferably in manager due diligence
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CFA, CAIA, and/or CIMA designation
- Passionate about investing; deep knowledge of financial markets
- Detail-oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize time and manage multiple tasks
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical and investigative skills
- Excellent client service orientation, responds to requests promptly
- Ability to interact with other team members on shared goals and objectives
- Willingness to debate and constructively challenge opinions in a group setting
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
