The HR Leader will manage all aspects of human resources for our company. This includes overseeing benefits, recruiting, employee relations, and engagement efforts, while ensuring compliance with HR regulations in two states, including California. You will lead a small HR team, providing guidance and support to help them succeed in their roles. The HR Leader will work closely with senior management to align HR strategies with business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Benefits Management:
    • Lead the planning, communication, and administration of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
    • Ensure benefits comply with federal and state laws, particularly California regulations (e.g., ACA, Cal/OSHA).
    • Review and assess benefit programs regularly, making adjustments as needed based on employee feedback and industry trends.
  • Recruiting & Talent Acquisition:
    • Oversee the recruiting process, from job postings to onboarding, ensuring a steady flow of qualified candidates.
    • Work with department managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
    • Lead efforts to create a positive candidate experience and ensure a smooth hiring process.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Act as a resource for employees and managers on HR policies, performance issues, and workplace conflicts.
    • Resolve employee concerns and issues in a fair, timely manner, fostering a respectful and productive environment.
    • Help to continue to improve the working environment and our employee relations.
    • Ensure adherence to company policies and compliance with all legal regulations.
  • Employee Engagement & Retention:
    • Develop and implement programs that enhance employee satisfaction and company culture.
    • Planning and participating in company sponsored events such as picnics and awards banquets.
    • Conduct employee surveys, gather feedback, and collaborate with leadership to improve engagement and retention.
    • Promote career development opportunities and recognize employee contributions.
  • Team Leadership & HR Operations:
    • Lead and support a small HR team, providing coaching, direction, and professional development.
    • Ensure the team is aligned with company goals and HR initiatives.
    • Oversee day-to-day HR operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in HR processes.
  • HR Compliance & Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all state and federal labor laws, including California-specific regulations.
    • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
    • Prepare and submit HR-related reports as required.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of HR experience, with a focus on benefits, recruiting, employee relations, and engagement.
  • Experience managing or leading an HR team is preferred.
  • Understanding of California labor laws and regulations preferred.
  • Experience in a regulated industry, such as medical devices, is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving and relationship building skills are essential.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with a high level of professionalism.
  • Proficient in HRIS, preferably Rippling, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office.
