Field Construction Engineer - Electrical

Airswift is seeking a Field Construction Engineer, Electrical to support one of our major clients in their facilities in Port Arthur, TX on an initial 1-year assignment, likely to extend,

  • Primary Purpose

The Field Engineer will be responsible for a specific discipline's (civil, piping, or electrical) field engineering aspects of Construction execution. Provides discipline specific hands-on technical guidance and resolution of technical issues.

Receives guidance from the Senior Field Engineer. Works closely with site quality team for consistency of execution. At times and as necessary may require to interface with company's permitting and regulatory compliance team to ensure that site documents are submitted timely. The position will also support activities through pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up as required.

Accountabilities, responsibilities, and work area may be altered from time to time based on the needs of the organization and the project.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supports field engineering aspects of construction execution for a specific discipline (e.g. piping or civil). Ensures compliance with codes, engineering drawings, specifications, environmental guidelines, quality assurance programs and construction safety programs. Participates in FERC and/or other regulatory site visits, and ensures submittals to agencies per requirements.
  • Engages in safety briefings and attend site safety walkdowns.
  • Assists in reviewing and/or preparing daily activity logs and detailed records.
  • Contributes and ensures proper preservation of equipment, piping and permanent plant materials based on respective discipline’s scope.
  • Assists in maintaining a tracking log for field NCRs, and supports in providing proper documentation for resolution NCRs and technical follow-up with involved parties.
  • Collaborates and maintains positive relationship with the EPC Contractor and other project discipline members.
  • Provides technical inputs for construction planning and execution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline required.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in major construction projects and experience with specific or multiple disciplines and experience in Oil and Gas industry required.
  • 5+ years of experience with LNG, power plants or other large infrastructure construction projects including pre-commissioning experience required.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Knowledge of environmental & safety requirements, industrial safety practices.
  • Knowledge of construction best practices/techniques, and construction planning and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance & Quality Control best practices.
  • Knowledge of welding processes including NDT/ PWHT and applicable piping codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of piping, piping schedules, piping shop fabrication processes and best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering, construction and safety codes & standards.
  • Strong understanding and ability to read and comprehend technical documents such as P&ID, Isometric Drawing, WPS/PQR, Piping Work & Test Packages; Primavera schedule.
  • Understanding of rigging and heavy lifts construction best practices.
  • Self-starter with proven leadership abilities, strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Team player with ability to influence and manage a team to get positive results.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Able to present issues, concerns and provide recommendations and solutions to management.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio).

This position is assigned to a field office and will require working outdoors, resulting in exposure to extremes of heat, cold, noise and dust. Also, will be exposed to normal construction equipment and site hazards.
