Job Description
REPORTS TO: President
SUPERVISES: Supply Chain Department – Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Purchasing, Subcontracts, and Logistics
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: The Vice President, Maritime Supply Chain is a critical leadership role reporting directly to the President. This individual will be responsible for the strategic direction and operational execution of the company's global maritime supply chain, encompassing all aspects from sourcing and procurement to logistics, warehousing, and distribution. This role demands a seasoned executive with deep maritime industry expertise, a proven track record of optimizing complex supply chains, and exceptional leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance may be required if deemed necessary in the scope of your position responsibilities.

DIRECTION EXERCISED: Directs the work of others through subordinate managers and I or supervisors. Serves as coach and mentor to management staff and supports continued professional development to build bench strength for critical departmental positions. Confers with other Department Directors to establish mutually agreeable timelines and performance requirements.
DISCRETION EXERCISED: Functions as a strategic business advisor to other functional and operating units in the organization on matters related to SCM. Establishes, communicates and enforces company policy within scope of SCM. Authority to take corrective and disciplinary action with guidance/oversight from Human Resources; shall make recommendations for hiring, firing, promotions, transfers and pay adjustments.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the maritime supply chain strategy: Define and execute a comprehensive maritime supply chain strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives, focusing on cost optimization, service excellence, risk mitigation, and sustainability.
- Oversee all aspects of purchasing, subcontracts and logistics: Manage the end-to-end supply chain process, including purchasing and logistics to ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation.
- Lead strategic sourcing and procurement: Develop and implement sourcing strategies for equipment, supplies, and services, ensuring competitive pricing, timely delivery, and quality assurance. Negotiate contracts with key suppliers and build strong relationships.
- Manage warehousing and distribution: Oversee the warehousing and distribution network, optimizing inventory levels, storage capacity, and order fulfillment processes. Implement best practices in warehouse management and ensure efficient and timely material delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and technology adoption within supply chain. Implement lean principles and drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manage risk and ensure compliance: Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential disruptions to the supply chain. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards, including safety, environmental, and customs regulations.
- Build and lead a high-performing team: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of supply chain professionals. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Manage stakeholder relationships: Effectively communicate with and manage expectations of key stakeholders, including internal teams, suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Develop and manage the supply chain budget: Oversee the budget allocated for supply chain operations, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
- Stay abreast of industry trends: Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting the maritime supply chain.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Maritime Transportation, Finance or Engineering, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years at a Director level position or above required.
- Experience in government defense contracting required.
- Understanding of the maritime industry required, with international experience preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully optimizing complex supply chains and achieving significant cost savings and service improvements.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Experience with supply chain management software and technology.
- Knowledge of relevant maritime regulations and compliance requirements.
- Global supply chain experience is highly desirable.
