What you will do:

The CAT Therapeutic Mentor is a vital and compassionate member of the CAT team, dedicated to uplifting and empowering our clients. In this role, you’ll provide direct support and genuine care, fostering social and emotional growth. Through meaningful interactions, you’ll help clients regain control of their lives, guiding them with empathy and understanding. As a Therapeutic Mentor, you will inspire hope and resilience, serving as a trusted role model in developing essential coping skills. Your commitment will make a lasting impact on those you support, helping them thrive in their journey toward wellness.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in rotating on-call schedule
  • Be a member of the individual treatment team for an assigned number of clients
  • Participate in the client-centered comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history, mental status, and diagnosis; physical health and dental health; use of drugs or alcohol; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living; and family structure and relationships
  • Consult with community agencies and families to maintain coordination in the treatment process
  • Document client progress to maintain a permanent record of client activity according to established methods and procedures
  • Participate in daily staff organizational meetings and treatment planning review meetings
  • Participate in providing treatment and dual diagnosis services
  • Provide work-related supportive services, such as assistance with grooming and personal hygiene, securing appropriate clothing, wake-up calls, transportation
  • Perform job coaching, problem solving, and support on and off the job site
  • Provide ongoing assessment, problem solving, side by side services, skill training, supervision, and environmental adaptations to assist clients with activities of daily living
  • Assist clients to find and maintain a safe and affordable place to live - apartment hunting, finding a roommate, landlord negotiations, cleaning, furnishing, and decorating, and procuring necessities
  • Provide nutrition education and assistance with meal planning, grocery shopping, and food preparation
  • Assist and support clients to perform household activities, including house cleaning and laundry
  • Ensure that clients have adequate financial support
  • Teach money management skills and assist clients in accessing financial services
  • Help clients to access reliable transportation
  • Assist and support clients to have and effectively use a personal primary care physician, dentist, and other medical specialists as required
  • Plan, structure, and prompt social and leisure-time activities on evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Organize and lead individual and group social and recreational activities to structure clients’ time, increase social experiences, and provide opportunities to practice social skills and receive feedback and support
  • Must complete clerical/administrative activities within provided timeframe
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and a busy office environment


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Certification as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist certified by the Florida Certification Board;


or

  • A Bachelor of Arts degree in a social services major, such as psychology, social work, education or vocation rehabilitation;


and

  • A minimum of two years experience working directly with children or adolescents with behavioral health needs.
