This is a hybrid role, requiring in-person attendance at our Reston, Virginia HQ each Tuesday and Thursday, and remote option each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.


PIR is seeking a skilled Data Analyst with a strong focus on report writing and data storytelling to join our data analytics department. In this role, you will analyze complex data sets, translate findings into actionable insights, and deliver clear, concise, and visually appealing reports that inform business decisions. You will play a key role in communicating data trends, patterns, and performance metrics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization. This role will primarily support projects related to our NetBeacon Institute, which is focused on creating a safer Internet for everyone through two flagship products: NetBeacon Reporter and NetBeacon Measurement & Analytics Platform (MAP).


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Report Creation & Analysis: Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive reports and dashboards to communicate key business metrics, trends, and insights.
  • Data Interpretation: Analyze large datasets, identifying patterns, outliers, and trends, and write reports that clearly explain data findings and their implications for the business.
  • Data Storytelling: Translate complex data into easily understandable narratives that provide actionable insights and guide strategic decisions. Use storytelling techniques to present data findings that resonate with a variety of audiences.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business units to understand reporting needs and deliver customized reports that support business goals and objectives.
  • Report Automation: Develop automated reporting processes to ensure timely delivery of routine reports, optimizing efficiency and reducing manual work.
  • Presentation & Communication: Present analytical findings in a clear and engaging manner through written reports, presentations, and meetings with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and validate data to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of reports and insights.
  • Other duties and tasks as requested.


Supervision Received and Exercised

Position works under general supervision from the Senior Director Data Analytics. Position will receive technical guidance from senior members of the Data Analytics Department and overall Technology Department.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Information Technology, Analytics, Mathematics or another related field and certification or post-undergraduate degree in data analytics or similar field preferred.
  • Communication skills and the ability to present analysis, clearly and concisely, to team members who may not have an analytics background.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SQL and data querying.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas, etc.).
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis techniques and statistical methods.
  • Writing & Communication: Proficient writing and communication skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and engaging reports and presentations.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to ensure the accuracy and clarity of written reports.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and approach data analysis with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with various stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Data Visualization: Ability to create sophisticated, interactive dashboards that provide insights.
  • Domain Name Industry or Cybersecurity Experience

  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex problems and issues in a concise manner (written & oral including presentations) to a variety of audiences (internal customers, third parties, peers, and upper management) as well as excellent listening and comprehension skills.

  • Teamwork: Works well & collaborates among a team of IT and business partners to effectively and efficiently accomplish established goals while willing to share successes always putting the team’s interest first. Adapts to needs – sometimes part of a team, other times works independently.

Work Environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
