Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate and timely verification of insurance benefits for behavioral health services. The ideal candidate will have experience working in medical or behavioral health settings, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a strong understanding of insurance policies and billing processes.

Pay rate: The starting pay rate for this position is $17-$18 per hour pending experience.
Work Schedule & Location: This is a full-time, remote position. Shift options include 8:30am-5:00pm ET with a half hour unpaid break or 9:00am-6:00pm ET with 1 hour unpaid break. Team members may work from any state within the U.S. that Brave is set up to conduct business in.

Key Responsibilities
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for outpatient behavioral health services
- Accurately document and update patient insurance details in the electronic medical records (EMR) system or other systems as required.
- Communicate coverage details, copayments, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses to patients and internal teams.
- Manage patient communication via email and SMS.
- Collaborate with billing and intake teams to resolve insurance-related issues efficiently.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance policies, regulations, and behavioral health coverage changes.
- Follow up on pending verifications to prevent service delays.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance verification, including eligibility and benefits.
- Familiarity with behavioral health insurance policies, including at least 1 year experience with Medicaid; extensive knowledge of Medicare and commercial insurance plans a plus.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems and insurance portals.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently; specific familiarity with Healthie, Salesforce, Nirvana, Catalyst, and payor portals strongly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining productivity and accuracy.
- Maintain a HIPAA compliant workspace that emulates an in-person clinic setting.
