At Covenant Community Care, a faith-based, charitable, non-profit Community Health Center, we provide medical, dental, and counseling health care services to the people of Metro Detroit. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we offer integrated health care services to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.

We are currently looking to add a Child and Adolescent Therapist to our counseling team to help us serve the local community. We work in an integrated environment along with our medical team as well as outpatient care. We are excited to include this service and to bring an enthusiastic person into this caring and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling to children and adolescents
  • Provide parent education, coaching, and training
  • Advocate on behalf of the child and family to assist them in meeting their needs and reaching their desired level of self-sufficiency
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to help in recognizing, treating, and managing mental health, substance use, and psychosocial issues as appropriate
  • Support patients in their health goals, including treatment compliance, sleep, coping with persistent health issues, or other
  • Conduct mental health and substance use screening; provide referrals as clinically appropriate. Referrals may include psychiatry, housing, basic needs, or other
  • Provide psychoeducation to patients and their families concerning mental health and substance use issues
  • Provide assessments, treatment plans, and evidence-based therapeutic treatment for patients in individual, family, or group settings. These visits may be in an integrated or outpatient setting
  • Document the patients’ progress and diagnostic information in the treatment chart
  • Communicate patient progress with the care team as appropriate
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient health information in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR part 2, and other applicable regulations
  • Cover other behavioral health provider’s patients as needed
  • Maintain compliance with MI Licensing, including completing continuing education as required

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work or related field
  • Current valid professional licensure in the state of Michigan (LPC or LMSW)
  • Spanish speaker preferred

  • Ability to function effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with active listening and social perceptiveness
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality working with a sensitive patient population
  • Service-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good judgment and ability to make decisions independently
  • Organized, dependable, and able to efficiently prioritize work
  • Resourceful with community networking and the ability to speak on behalf of Covenant Community Care, its mission and values
  • Comfortable working with a variety of ages
  • Computer competent
  • Travel to other clinics required
  • Spanish-English Bilingual is a plus
