Job Description
Job Summary
As part of Purdue’s growing investment in the life sciences and social genomics initiative, our recently funded research team is looking for one 2-year Postdoctoral Fellow to work in the area of statistical and social genomics. The successful applicants will work under the supervision of Dr. Robbee Wedow (Department of Sociology, College of Liberal Arts), Dr. Boran Gao (Department of Statistics, College of Science), and Dr. Geyu Zhou (Department of Biological Sciences, College of Science) . The successful applicant will be supported with competitive salary and benefits for up to 2 years, with possible extension given satisfactory performance and available funding.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Quantitative Genetics, Genomics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Computer Science, Computational Biology) or other related fields. Broad research projects include but are not limited to statistical fine-mapping, polygenic risk score and gene-by-environment interactions in multi-ancestry and admixed populations. We are particularly interested in exploring the interaction between genetic architecture of mental health related outcomes and social economical status in historically underrepresented populations. The researcher will get opportunities to contribute to research proposals, present at conferences, and regularly interact with other team members within the Department of Sociology, Department of Statistics, and Department of Biological Sciences through campus-wide sociogenomics initiative.
Application Procedures
The initial appointment will be for one year, and extension for the second (or any years beyond the second year) will depend on research performance and productivity.
