Job Title: Accounting Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Hours: Full Time, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm

Work Location: La Mesa, CA/hybrid

Reports to: VP of Finance and Accounting

Salary Range: $100,000 to $130,000

Summary: We are seeking an experienced Corporate Accounting Manager to oversee our accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy, and manage payroll processing through Paylocity. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with accounting standards and optimizing financial processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Sage Intacct and payroll processing, demonstrating technical expertise and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Ensure the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Month-End & Year-End Close: Oversee the close process, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
  • Payroll Processing: Manage and process payroll through Paylocity, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring proper classification of transactions.
  • Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Oversight: Ensure timely processing and reconciliation of payables and receivables.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting Support: Assist in financial planning, variance analysis, and cost control measures.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Strengthen accounting controls, policies, and procedures to enhance financial accuracy and risk mitigation.
  • Audit & Tax Coordination: Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Team Leadership & Process Improvement: Lead and mentor accounting staff, optimizing processes for efficiency and accuracy.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred but not required).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in corporate accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct and payroll software is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, payroll regulations, and accounting best practices.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, provide insights, and implement improvements.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a multi-entity environment.
  • Familiarity with financial compliance and regulatory reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial reporting tools.
  • Proactive and technically savvy.
