Summary/Objective
Participates in the daily activities of the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant maintenance program to completes the preventative, diagnostic, and emergency asset maintenance at the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated satellite facilities. Assists the Plant Mechanics in servicing, maintaining, and repairing the machinery and equipment of the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated facilities.

Assists the Plant Mechanics in servicing, maintaining, and repairing the machinery and equipment of the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant and associated facilities.
Essential Functions
Performs maintenance activities at the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant and/or other satellite facilities.
- Assists with the management of a database of Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant assets, schedules maintenance, assigns work orders and maintains records of repairs and maintenance activities for water/wastewater treatment plant assets through a computerized maintenance management system.
- Performs routine visual/diagnostic checks, inspects, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs for various equipment and machinery assets.
- Completes basic repairs and maintenance of a variety of common water/wastewater treatment plant machinery and equipment, including pumps, air compressors, blowers, mixers, motors, generators, variable frequency drives and other electrical gear, electronic SCADA components, HVAC units and programmable logic controllers.
- Utilizes “SCADA” system (supervisory control and data acquisition) for process monitoring and automation.
- Repairs and maintains Lift Stations, Biosolids facilities and related machinery and equipment as required.
- Provides guidance and training as needed to less experienced operations and maintenance staff.
- Performs assigned duties in the event of an emergency and performs “on-call” to complete troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs for water/wastewater treatment facilities equipment after normal business hours.
- Comprehends and learns the principals of water/wastewater and apply them as needed.
- Manages stress brought about by interacting with potentially irate and/or defensive customers.
- Provides snow and ice removal at Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant sidewalks and driveways.
- Performs ground maintenance, and janitorial services as needed.
- Attends meetings and training.
- Prepares reports.
- Ensures compliancy with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures in all duties.
Required Education and Experience
- High school education, or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Specialized technical training or experience related to industrial equipment maintenance.
- Safety and Emergency Training: NIMS training – Basic Level Courses; Hazardous Communication Training; Lockout/Tagout Training; Certification as Competent Person (Trenching and Excavation Safety) o CPR/First Aid Training; Climbing and Fall Protection Training; and Basic Electrical Safety Training.
- Boot, Clothing and Vehicle Allowances, if applicable.
- City issued Cell Phone, if applicable.
