SoundThinking is a leader in AI-based technology solutions for law enforcement agencies and security teams in the enterprise sector. Our suite of tools—including industry-leading gunshot detection, investigative database and case management, patrol management software, LPR/ALPR technology, and weapons detection—empowers over 300 customers and approximately 2,100 agencies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and equity in public safety.

We are seeking a Creative Director to lead and elevate our brand identity, messaging, and user experience. In this role, you will oversee all creative efforts, including marketing materials, public messaging, and the UI/UX design of our website and software applications. This role is crucial in positioning SoundThinking as a trusted, innovative, and sensitive partner in advancing public safety.

Creative Leadership

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute creative strategies that align with SoundThinking's mission, vision, and core values.
  • Shape the public narrative and perception of SoundThinking through branding, storytelling, and content creation.
  • Lead the creative team in producing impactful marketing assets, including branding, advertising, social media, and digital materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure brand consistency across all channels and products.

UI/UX Design Oversight

  • Direct the UI/UX design of SoundThinking’s website and software applications, ensuring user-centric design principles.
  • Collaborate with product teams to create interfaces that are intuitive, accessible, and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Conduct user research and integrate feedback to improve user experiences across digital platforms.
  • Oversee the design and prototyping process, ensuring alignment with the overall brand and product vision.
  • Stay informed on trends in design and technology, applying innovative solutions to enhance user engagement and satisfaction.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Work closely with marketing, product development, and leadership teams to ensure cohesive messaging and design.
  • Develop creative campaigns targeting diverse stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies and enterprise security teams.
  • Ensure creative assets and interfaces reflect SoundThinking’s commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and social responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Creative Director, Art Director, or in a similar leadership role, ideally in a SaaS, technology, or public safety-focused organization.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in branding, storytelling, marketing campaigns, and UI/UX design.
  • Demonstrated success in leading creative teams and managing complex, cross-functional projects.
  • Deep understanding of UI/UX design principles, user research methodologies, and digital product design best practices.
  • Experience designing for SaaS platforms, enterprise tools, or public safety applications is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and Microsoft PowerPoint and Office for presentation creations and collaborative work.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate creative concepts and design decisions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.

Hybrid Workplace

SoundThinking follows a hybrid schedule for employees who live equal to or less than 50 miles from one of our office locations, which include Fremont, CA, Tucson, AZ, Washington, D.C., or Iselin, NJ. Employees are expected to work onsite 3 days per week – the specific days are dependent on the office location.
