The Packer position performs all tasks involved in the finishing production of the company’s product. This includes prepping materials prior to packing for shipment based on customer specific orders. This position is also responsible for final inspection of the packed product with regards to quality and the goal of increased efficiency, profitability and customer satisfaction.

 

• Examine and inspect materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met
• Measure, weigh, and count products and materials against the Packing List or Bills of Material to ensure correct goods and quantities will be shipped to the customer
• Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records i.e., mark and label products using designated marking tools.
• Stack finished goods on pallets for shipping which includes wrapping loaded pallets
• Scan items into the ERP system that are being shipped
• Final inspection of finished product prior to shipping i.e., damage free
• Escalate any areas of concern defective products or materials to the Production Supervisor prior to removing damaged items from shipping
• Operate forklift/mower to stage and or transport the packed order to the designated racks/shelving area
• Follow safety & quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
• Maintain work area to standards of operation to assure the area is not a safety hazard
• Optimize space utilization
• Must be able to work cohesively within a team environment and on cross-functional projects as assigned i.e., Safety Committee, Inventory or Plant specific projects
• Maintain open lines of communication with Production Supervisor/Management and co-workers

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education and/or Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent;
• 6 months manufacturing experience, preferred;
• 6 months of forklift/tow motor experience highly desired, not required;
• Must have basic computer skills to perform the administrative aspects of the position i.e., ERP System entries, label printing, etc.;
• Must be able to use basic math i.e., adding, subtracting, multiply and dividing.

 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms sit, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
• Lift/carry objects up to 50 lbs.
• Stand/Walk continuously 8+hours day
