Litigation Paralegal

Kanner & Pintaluga, a dynamic and rapidly growing personal injury and property damage law firm, seeks a highly motivated and passionate Litigation Paralegal to join its First-Party Property team in Boca Raton, FL.

Position Summary

The litigation paralegal will work directly under our trial attorney in the preparation and trial of the firm’s first party property cases.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain trial calendar;
• Assist in preparing evidence/exhibits for trial;
• Assist in the trial meetings with the attorneys in preparing the cases for trial;
• Responsible for ensuring all trial deadlines are complied with when case is set for trial;
• Document management using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe and SmartAdvocate
• E-file legal documents in Florida’s E-Portal System.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences.
• Draft legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery demands/responses and subpoenas.
• During trial - organize all the evidence, case law and documents throughout the trial so it available to the lawyer when it is needed;
• During trial - take detailed notes during jury selection and trial;
• During trial - Supervise the client so the lawyers can focus on the trial;
• During trial - Provide independent analysis on selecting the jury and how the case is being presented to the jury during the trial;
• During trial - Research of topics that come up; and
• During trial - Any other miscellaneous tasks that need to be completed at trial.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Experience/Requirements

• Full-time, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, M-F.
• 2+ years of paralegal experience.
• Trial experience preferred.
• Experience with the discovery process.
• Experience e-filing in both state and federal courts a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate with clients and co-workers effectively and efficiently.
• Possess excellent organization skills and be able to multitask and prioritize workload.
• Have an ability to be cross-trained and work with multiple attorneys.
• Experience with reviewing repair estimates and coordinating appearances at trial preferred.
