The Opportunity
Williams International has an exciting opportunity for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for the quality assurance of software for aerospace and military applications related to the control and operation of gas turbine engines. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-tech, cutting-edge products in a fast paced and collaborative environment.
The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will also be responsible for:
- Review software documentation to assure that all software development processes are being followed. This includes requirements documents, software problem reports (SPRs), test plans, test reports, analysis reports, etc.
- Provide timely and meaningful feedback to document authors to resolve issues quickly
- Develop, review, and update company procedures to assure software quality and meet customer requirements while making the software development as efficient as possible
- Conduct audits of software development activity to ensure compliance with company procedures
- Witness software testing and review test results
- Work with software developers, product managers and other stakeholders to provide guidance on the proper software development processes
- Identify areas for enhancement and optimize the development process iteratively
- Prepare documents for submittal to customers or regulatory authorities to document compliance with software quality requirements
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a related field is required
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in software quality assurance (SQA).
- Strong knowledge of software quality assurance methodologies, tools, and processes
- Strong understanding of the software development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, coding and testing
- Experience and knowledge of DO-178 software development requirements and processes or an equivalent highly regulated, safety-critical software environment
- Experience and knowledge of software testing including unit testing, integration testing, and system testing
- Programming experience in C, C#, Python, or similar programming languages
- Experience with IBM DOORs or equivalent requirements management tools
- Experience developing and introducing new software quality processes
- Experience with Jira or equivalent software issue tracking software
- Experience with Git, Bitbucket, or equivalent version control software
- Experience with static analysis tools to evaluate software quality and security metrics
- Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and software
- Conscientious with strict attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Effective time management skills for multitasking
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills with cross-functional teams
- Ability to keep a positive outlook in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
- U. S. Citizenship is required
- Position requires the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Security Clearance, if needed. Candidates selected may be subject to a U. S.
