As part of our team, you'll play a key role in providing assessment and academic support, managing student groups, and balancing the needs of students with institutional priorities. You’ll help guide students through important milestones like postsecondary entrance, financial aid applications, and career exploration, all while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
With your expertise in program design, recruitment strategies, and problem-solving under pressure, you’ll have the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students—especially those from low-income and first-generation backgrounds. Your strong communication skills, ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and enthusiasm for student development will be essential in ensuring a positive and engaging experience for everyone involved.

To thrive in this role, applicants must be able to work assigned hours and be dependable. They also must be able to work with staff, students, participants’ parents/guardians and community members while supporting general program activities and able to work with students from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. They must also have strong interpersonal skills, be able to use a variety of technology and computer programs used around campus, be able to work independently with minimum supervision with high school students of varying abilities, and be able to positively represent the institution and the program. A master’s degree may be helpful for applicants but is not required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
A valid Alaska Drivers License is also required.
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus and West Anchorage High School in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
